Probably one of the coolest wines I’ve tried this year, this wine is in its most natural unfiltered state, fully sustainable and completely delicious.

Just brilliant, this is all I want in a new world Chardonnay yellow apple, pear and citrus, hints of coconut and vanilla and toasty oak, medium bodied, soft, buttery and lingering.

Over the years this wine just gets better and better, light, citrus and crisp, much like varieties in Northern France associated from slightly cooler climates, delicious with simple fish dishes like our fillet of cod.

A stunning wine from on our doorstep delights with tropical notes especially pineapple, crisp and dry leaving a lingering finish that puts a smile on your face, a beautiful match with Dorset oysters.

This is definitely the most interesting wine I have tried and enjoyed this year, bursting with fresh vibrancy with notes of yellow plum, white peaches and grapefruit, great with spicy dishes like Thai mussels.

Citrussy southern French white wine made from Picpoul grape, soft and exotic peach flavours with a zingy finish.

Delicious creamy and fresh, this Muscadet is brilliant and a perfect match with oysters or with any fish where you’ll need a squeeze of fresh lemon.

Subtle aromas of freshly cut grass, pears and apples, lovely citrus and fennel notes, this is a wonderful match with our mussels or pasta based dishes.

Green apple and mature minerality make this Chablis one to be reckoned with and punches well above its weight in this class. A complex finish with some hints of pink graefuit and lemons, match with local lobster.

From the oldest most prestigious appelations in Macon, this is from a tiny estate of 1 hectare and is one of the finest chardonnays that money can buy, classically structured with ripe fruits, mineral acidity, a fine match for any seafood especially lobster.

A growers Sancerre. Piercing aromas of grapefruit on a palate of fresh cut grass. This dry and fruity white wine has a beautiful light yellow colour with brilliant reflections. It is full of finesse and complexity with delicate mineral touches.

A delightful wine with deep apricot and orange notes, a little spicy with a pronounced texture and a notable long finish. One of my favourite drops this year.

Italian sunshine in a glass made from the fiano grape in Puglian vineyards that are just four miles from the Ionian Sea, bright and breezy, elegant with peachy spice and a steely, lemon blossom-scented twist.

Ripe pear and bright white flowers dominate this beautiful wine, this is elegant and very appealing, a truly magical Gavi di Gavi.

This lovely wine has an attractive nose of zesty lemon and passionfruit tied together with layers of fresh, herbaceous characters. The palate has wonderful fruit concentration with mineral undertones and is balanced by a fresh acidity. The finish is gentle and dry.

This Pinot Grigio is brilliant and far superior to any Italian ones that I have tasted, this variety won 5-0 in a tasting against all other wines we tried at this point, expect apples, melon and soft peach.

Fetele, a tribute to the women of Romania. A beautiful example of Romania's flagship white grape, Fetească Regală, showing delicate floral aromas with silky layers of yellow plums and spiced pears, one of my favourite wines of 2023.

Lifted and intense ripe citrus and stone fruit on the nose, with a hint of tangerine. The palate has similarly intense, vibrant fruit and is textural with more weight than is usual for Albariño yet still with elegance and finesse. The finish is complex with bright acidity and a refreshing saline twist.

This soft oak aged Rioja is stunning, from a family run estate in the heart of Alavesa, it has some light cinnamon notes, soft and creamy with white blossom on the nose, great freshness and lingering finish.

This wine is fresh, zesty and zippy. On the nose there are notes of white flowers, and on the palate tropical and stone fruits.

A serious drop of Provence with a lovely expressive nose of berries and almond blossom, broad and savoury palate with beautiful depth and minerality.

A fresh and very expressive rosé, packed with aromas and flavours of grapefruit, peach and ripe red fruit. On the palate these flavours continue along with a touch of mango and a refreshing citrus finish.

Layers of raspberry and strawberry in the nose lead to a fruity, yet spicy palate. A fresh wine with great acidity for food pairing, but roundness to enjoy on its own. If you only have one bottle to bring – this is the ultimate wine for any occasion.

The finest Sancerre rose available, a rare find with small production, beautiful pink colour with succulent wild strawberries and a refreshing acidity.

Crafted in the traditional Champagne method, Engelmann bursts onto your table and onto your palate. Intensely floral, fresh citrus notes demand attention on the nose, dancing into vibrant and zingy, pink grapefruit, gooseberry and a hint of green apple and pear on the palate.

Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes in the traditional Champagne method, this subtle wine presents with hints of honey on the nose, which lead to honeycomb, peach, apricot and melon flavours on the palate, all with a delicious hint of spice.

Crafted from 100% Chardonnay grapes in the traditional Champagne method, San Gabriel is all about subtlety and simplicity. This beautifully elegant wine presents a clean, simple and delicate nose of lemon, which is complimented on the palate by subtle hints of lemon sherbet and lime sorbet, all with subtle background brioche notes.

Finely structured blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay has a bit of everything: zesty apple and citrus fruit, balanced by richer, toasted brioche flavours and refined bubbles. A classic Grand Cru Champagne.

Aged in the oldest cellars in Champagne, Taittinger is the official partner of BAFTA and the choice of no other than James Bond. This 90 Parker Point fizz weaves notes of peach, acacia, citrus and honey through the divine bubbles that lead to a beautifully elegant finish.

Famously firm and tightly knit, with a backbone of steely acidity, showing a fine, creamy texture that imparts an overall sense of finesse.

Born in Bournemouth, produced in Friuli. Fresh and fruity bouquet, hints of apple, floral wisteria, and notes of crusty bread. A fine persistent mousse. Single estate.

“Chamuyo” to whisper of passion or desire, the is a true Malbec, it is a juicy, supple wine with ripe summer fruits, herbs and warm spice.

This is a beauty, concentrated and balanced, a ripe and moreish honest Cabernet Sauvignon from the sunny Languedoc. Well-structured, smooth and concentrated with dark fruit and savoury spice.

This wine offers a fine intensity and juicy ripe cherries on the nose. Silky and smooth on the palate, this elegant Pinot displays hints of rose petal, liquorice and a fresh, lingering finish. A pure gem at less than £30.

Immediately impressive, this wine reveals its class from the start. Brambly fruit underpinned by subtle oaky nuances, lovely, sweet spice - warm star anise with a touch of cinnamon. This classic Côtes du Rhône Villages is enriched with specially selected parcels from Séguret and Sablet villages.

From one of the most stylish Cru in Beaujolais, with a core of juicy blackberry fruit and lively hints of orange peel playing around the edge of the palate. It rounds off with fine, tannins coating the mouth with a satisfying, lingering umami note.

Very lovely indeed, a heady perfume of freshly picked irises and peonies drifts above the crushed berry fruit nose. Ripe tannins and fresh acidity support a palate of Morello cherries, strawberries with wonderfully elegant finish.

One of the great, gravel soiled Pomerols. The nose offers hints of strawberry and damson whilst the palate has lovely balance, a silky structure with powder-fine tannins, freshness, purity and length.

Made from plump Merlot grapes which create this amazinigly soft, sumptious red is light enough to enjoy with a variety of fish and our local meat selection, drinks far better than its price tag.

The best Primitivo money can buy, a nose full of fresh red cherrys, the palate is crammed with juicy plums, cinnamon and vanilla, with dark chocolate. Velvety tannins

The Tuscany area is famous for Sangiovese, and Chianti is one of the most productive hotspots for the grape, producing a lovely wines with tart and fresh flavours of cherry, strawberries, and red plums.

A complex nose combining plum, mulberry, ripe strawberry and brown spice with delicate floral and violet notes. Tannins are firm and pleasingly supported with plump fruit and a rounded texture, giving a good lengthy finish.

Beautiful golden straw colour. The nose and palate are characterised by caramelised apple, pineapple and honeycomb flavours - the sweetness balanced by a lingering fresh acidity.

Expect honey, apricots, butterscotch, caramel, marmalade, this one is an absolute sticky classic.

We are very proud of our 2024 wine list, I have tried to showcase some wonderful grape varieties from around the world, especially those that complement fish. When choosing these wines, the whole team got involved, including the kitchen team who assisted when matching certain wines with dishes on the new year menu.

We selected a few wonderful suppliers and chose similar wines from each, we then did blind tastings for the majority of them, those on this list have been carefully chosen by the entire team which makes it far more personal for our guests.

There were some stand out favourites of mine this year, the amazing Engelmann. We brought it in recently, delightful sparkling wine known for its exceptional quality, making it a favourite among enthusiasts. Produced in Lytchett Matravers, this sparkling gem stands out for its locally selected ingredients and meticulous craftmanship. The owners’ passion and commitment shine through, creating a unique and enjoyable experience for those savouring this sparkling delight.
